Meet the former Sebastian Darcy.
I'll be by your side, you know I'll take your hand
He arrived at the orphanage at the tender age of three, thinking that this was going to be a wonderful place of kind people and light and warmth. The flowers he passed on his way in and the smiles of the nice people who met him and his temporary caretaker at the door made him feel ever so hopeful.
That hope soon died, leaving him even more orphaned than his fever-claimed parents.
When it gets cold, and it feels like the end
Needless to say, he did not have any easy stay at the orphanage. A slight boy, and sickly, he was not strong enough to defend himself against the adults, or even the other children. He grew up into a world that was nothing but illness, interrupted by bouts of health.
And being primarily sick made no difference to anyone around him. Coughing too loud would warrant the back of a hand rather than a handkerchief.
Some days he would almost wish for the illnesses to claim him. Maybe then he could go to Heaven.
He should have been more careful of what he wished for.
There's nothing you could say, nothing you could do
Maybe if he had been healthy he would have been alright now. Maybe if he hadn't been so pretty he would have been alright now. Maybe if he had never been born at all, things would not be as they now are.
It was always only a matter of time before one of the adults became fed up with the sound of his endless coughing. It was always just borrowed time he had to live on before someone got too rough for his system to handle.
He did not die peacefully.
Before the doors close, and it comes to an end
Violent deaths shock a soul. Sebastian didn't know what to do or where to go. No angel appeared to bring him to Heaven. So he waited... and waited... and waited...
He has been waiting for three years. He would have been sixteen now, but instead he will forever be the thirteen year old he was at his death.
Hear me when I say I believe, that nothings going to change destiny
After his death, he was at first afraid to leave his body. What if someone came to get him and he wasn't there? But as he began to decompose, he also began to wander. The further from his bones he is, the more misty he becomes. He has never left the grounds of the orphanage, however, and does not know what would happen if he did.
He tried to help the surviving children where he could. Sometimes all it took to make an adult cease a beating was a creepy breeze on the back of the neck, or a feeling of being watched. No adult could ever see him, though he thought maybe the other children sometimes could.
He watched the rebellion and the time after with large eyes. He knew about the presence in the basement long before the living people did, and it scared him. He never went down there, and he was less then glad of it when Lily and Edward did. Even if they are no longer at adult mercy, Sebastian is certain that the Shadow Man is not to be trusted.
Whatever is meant to be, will work out perfectly
Just because he's dead doesn't mean that Sebastian is a different person. He's still the shy and gentle boy he always was. He is more of a listener than a talker, and would not harm a flea if his life- err, afterlife- depended on it.
He is much more scared of other people than they would be of him. Ghost though he is.
In life, he always found himself tongue-tied as a schoolgirl when talking to handsome boys, though he never put two-and-two together to see what that meant. And it's a bit late now.
He would be glad to make friends with anyone who could see him. At this point, he just wants someone to talk to him for the first time in three years.
