LEWIS JAMES HOPKIN
[/center]. TWENTY-ONE . SERVENT . CURIOUS . OBEDIENT .
Lewis is a man on a mission. Sent to London to figure out why Mr. and Ms. Faust had stopped sending letters to his masters (conveniently right after they sent a payment), concerning the purchase of an orphan, Lewis is rather committed to getting this over with so he can head home and care for his precious horses. At least that is the case at first. Being a worker for the Bennet's for 8 years, and a stablehand for 5 of them, means that he hasn't really gotten around much. Except for simple errands around Liverpool, he has never left the estate, and because of this, he remains rather clueless to the outside world. Though he assumed that he'd hate being out of his comfort zone in a large city, Lewis is finding that discovering what is happening outside of his stable is proving to be fascinating. Still, he doesn't let this distract him from the goal of finding this child that his masters wanted and finding a way back home.
At first impression, Lewis seems like a very serious person, someone accustomed to saying only "yes, sir" or "very well, missus". He's very accommodating to those who need favors, and because of this, he appears to be quite a pushover, though back where he comes from this attitude is considered normal. Whenever a person asks something of him, he'll do it to the best of his ability. He's genuinely surprised when anyone is willing to do things for him, and he grows grateful quite easily. Lewis isn't exactly an unintelligent man, but he really is quite clueless to social customs and daily living in the city. As much as he is interested in it, he also can become frustrated and confused. Because of this, he seems rather jumpy in crowded places, and he often has an unhappy expression. This can put some people off. Lastly, Lewis is actually a decent person; it's just that he's not used to showing it in a way that doesn't seem like he is treating others as he would Master Bennett.
Lewis has no ties at all to the people in London, so any possible friends, enemies, or possible lovers would have to start out fresh. The most important character for him right now would be the girl or boy he was supposed to pick up from the orphanage. His masters listed it with the other instructions they gave him, so he knows who he is looking for. There aren't many restrictions for who this orphan should be. Master Bennett was looking for someone older, so the child should be at least older than thirteen. Gender doesn't matter, since if it is a girl, they would have wanted her as a maid (or a maid-to-be), and if it is a boy, they'd probably want a garden boy or something else outdoorsy. Personality doesn't really matter either. The only thing that does is that this orphan is an actual character (it can be one that already exists), so there will be some plotting. Since Lewis is so set on completing this task, he'll probably go to any means to get this child, so there are many possibilities. Especially with the current state of the orphanage. Other needs are people for him to meet throughout London (since he'll probably be lost), and maybe even a guide-like character that could help him sort through how to find the correct roads to get to St.Annes.
